Crater Lookout Trail
The Crater Lookout Trail is a kilometre return, (30 minutes), from the carpark to the Crater viewing platform, with a gradual incline.
Overlooking Deadman’s Gully, there is a rest stop, where you can admire the Herb-rich Foothill Forest and recent revegetation efforts by the Mt Noorat Management Committee and local residents. Tree hollow nesting fauna species use the hollows of the gum trees to raise their young and can be viewed during certain periods of the year.
Further along at the farm cross over gates a bluestone seating is available with panoramic views to the east.

Venturing along the track on both the left and right you will see vegetation efforts including our most recent 2024 planting. At the end of this majestic walk, you have reached the crater. The crater is the perfect example of a circular crater, with a depth of almost 160 metres, which is below the level of the surrounding plain.
Another bluestone seat is strategically placed to take in views back towards the southeast, sit back and enjoy them!
