MOUNT NOORAT

Mount Noorat Walks & Trails

There is a long history of people climbing Mount Noorat and traversing the surrounding slopes and valleys. The Girai Wurrung people were the first to explore the lands of Mount Noorat, from where the conducted trade gatherings with neighbouring tribes. Shortly following European settlement, climbing the Mount became a popular pastime among the new settlers and visitors. In 1977, The Mount Noorat Fun and Fitness Trail Project resulted in the establishment of semi-formal walking tracks at Mount Noorat for community use. The series of walking tracks continue to be highly valued and utilised by the local community today.

On arrival at the entrance of the Mount Noorat walking trails you are greeted by a picturesque picnic area.  All walking trails are accessed from this point, so why not pack a picnic lunch or afternoon tea to enjoy after your walk.

Every walk offers views of the local countryside and beyond.  Most of the Mount is leased for grazing, so for any of our visitors be prepared for cows, (no bull!) and steers. If you are walking during the summer months and have a net mesh hat, bring it along, it will make you walk a lot more enjoyable, farming country comes with flies.  You are more than welcome to walk across paddocks, but please if you open a gate, close it behind you.
